Sycamore Class Learning
English
In English this term we are learning about:
Greek myths, especially the stories of Pandora and Perseus. We will explore features of setting and character descriptions before writing our own. We will also read extracts of various Greek myths and identify common features. We will use our knowledge story writing and begin to write our own narratives with alternative endings based on the different myths we have read.
This half term, we will also continue to develop our SPAG skills by learning how to use colons, semi colons, passive voice and accurate speech to name but a few. We will continue to identify and apply various Alan Peat techniques which will enhance our sentence work.
Science
In Science this term we will be learning about:
We will be investigating Earth and Space this half term. We will be exploring the origins of various theories regarding our solar system, we will also be creating models of planets and the sun including key facts and information.
We will learn how to track the phases of the moon and be able to name the various stages.
As part of the unit, we will look at the reasons for night and day and focus on the movement of the Earth in relation to the sun.
When working scientifically, we will use information collected to help use create models of our solar system- we will explore the length of a day and a year in relation to these time on Earth.
We will be able to give reason to the four seasons and discuss how the Earth’s orbit affects each season.
Maths
In Maths this term we are learning about:
Multiplication and Division, Fractions and Position and direction.
