Our vision for Spanish
- Develop language skills
- Children learn to speak, listen, read, and write in Spanish, and to understand basic grammar.
- Understand Spanish culture
- Children learn about Spanish geography and history, and compare it to the UK. They will also explore Spanish culture through songs, stories, poems, and rhymes.
- Build confidence
- Children are praised for any contributions they make, and lessons are designed to be enjoyable.
- Develop intercultural understanding
- Children may learn about languages from other cultures, and may visit Spain or experience Spanish life.
- Develop a positive attitude
- Children are encouraged to have a positive attitude towards learning Spanish.
- Develop resilience
- Children are encouraged to develop resilience as they learn a new language.
- Some schools use a variety of teaching strategies to help children learn
