Nursery
Newhey Community School Nursery Class offers part-time and full-time places within an educational setting and delivers The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
We welcome all children from the local community of Newhey, Milnrow or further afield to attend our Nursery Class. Of course, parents will still be able to approach other local primary schools for a reception class place as their child approaches statutory school age.
Since September 2017, a 30 hour entitlement to free childcare has been made available to parents and carers. This comprises of a universal 15 hours flexible entitlement and 15 hours (extended) entitlement. All age eligible children receive the 15 hours “universal entitlement”, whilst the “extended entitlement” is by parental eligibility. For further information and to check eligibility please visit: www.childcarechoices.gov.uk.
Our Nursery Class is staffed with an experienced qualified teacher and teaching assistants. The members of staff work hard to provide exciting and motivating activities in order for children to reach their full potential.
Children in the Nursery Class can start in the term following their third birthday. However, if places are available your child may be offered a place during the term of their third birthday once they have turned three. Unfortunately this would not be a free place and an hourly charge would be made.
The nursery class is open 8.45 am to 3.15 pm, which is the same as the main school. The school also operates a Breakfast Club and After School Club which nursery aged children can access. The times are as follows:
Breakfast - 7.30 – 8.45 am
After School Club - 3.15 – 5.00 pm
The Nursery Class is an integral part in the main school and is fully involved with the everyday life of the school. Nursery children partake in assemblies and other events throughout the school year and have access to main school facilities such as the hall for dance and P.E. Newhey Community School Nursery provides a happy and enjoyable setting in which children learn through play, group work and practical activities.
